Bruce Lee Wanna Be

I have been working for almost two months in preparation for my first karate tournament. My stomach was so nervous that I could hardly sleep last night. When I arrived, I couldn't believe the number of spectators. It was halfway exciting, and halfway terrifying. Here's a picture of me getting my game face on with my team.

My first event was Kata. I performed Kyung Chung Il Boo. I scored a 7.3 out of possible 10. Here is a picture of me after winning my medal. My mom says I earned it for participation. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm pretty sure I won.

I won second place in my division for sparring! I was one of the youngest participants, and I had to fight a lot of kids to qualify for the finals. Mom was super proud of me. I am displaying my trophy on my nightstand, and have placed a ring of admiring Weebles around it.

My instructor, Master Curry, was also proud of me. Actually, I think he couldn't believe it. I'm usually so confused and overwhelmed during my karate classes. I might have a hard time paying attention in class, but I definitely understand how to punch and kick opponents. Just ask my preschool teachers.

My friend Anthony and I were so happy when the tournament was over. It was a long day with lots of travel, waiting, and keeping quiet, but it sure was worth it.

Like a Fish

I have always loved swimming, but this summer I really want to be able to swim all by myself. A few weeks ago, I started swim lessons. They are so much fun, and I look forward to them every week!

One of the best parts about my swim lessons is the cool "swim hat" that I get to wear each week. I love it so much that I often wear it in the bath tub just for fun. I also wear it in the car to and from swim lessons because I really dig the way I look in it.

Its' hard for Stevie to sit and watch by the pool. It takes all of her will power (plus Mom's muscles) to keep her out of the water. Who could blame her?

A Cousin Reunion

We couldn't pass up an opportunity to visit with Baby Elaina while we were in Virginia. She is absolutely the best baby ever born to man. She eats, plays, and sleeps. But even she had about enough of our company after a few hours. Stevie and I love to get really close to Elaina's beautiful face to whisper sweet nothings (very loudly). We can't wait to see her again soon! Tio said that we might be able to jump rope with her by the end of the summer. We are stoked.

Even though it was about 90 degrees outside, Nanny didn't mind running a mini sports camp for me and Stevie. She gave me the coolest tennis racket, and I have been practicing almost everyday since then. Stevie tried her hand at golf, but wasn't as successful as I.

Visiting with Nanny makes everyone smiley!

Mimi's Birthday

Last month, we made a trip to Virginia to celebrate Mimi's birthday! Stevie and I woke up extra early to bake Mimi dark chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache frosting. They were delicious!

The best part about baking is getting to lick the beaters. The second best think is wearing fabulous aprons that Aunt Randi gave us! Stevie loved hers so much that she didn't even take it off until after lunch.

Great Grandma came over the celebrate as well. Aunt Sarah and Uncle Chuck really got the party going by making a yummy lunch, and we all had a great time. We can't wait to have another reason to celebrate soon.
